Frequently Asked Questions For Patrons

WHERE CAN I PARK?

Due to very limited onsite parking at McClelland, all General Admission ticket holders must park in the industrial estate opposite. We have engaged a professional traffic management company to help direct patrons to the correct place to park and assist them to cross back into the sculpture park, where your tickets will be scanned by one of our volunteers.

VIP ticket holders may enter the McClelland grounds and park onsite. Please have your tickets ready to show and be scanned when you drive into the venue.

WHAT IS THE TIMELINE FOR THE EVENING?

Gates open for VIP guests at 5:00pm for their exclusive cocktail dinner party.

General Admission guests may arrive from 5:00pm also.

Our film program will commence at around 7:00pm and is expected to run for approximately 2.5 hours. There will be a 25-minute interval mid way through the program between 8:30-8:55pm with expected finishing time for the film screenings around 10:20pm. Times may change slightly once our film program is confirmed.

Voting will open for the Audience Choice award once the last film has screened.

Judging and awards ceremony will commence immediately after the screenings.

Expected finishing time for the awards ceremony is around 10:45pm, when General Admission guests leave the park and the post-event drinks are held in the Pavilion for VIP ticket holders until midnight.

HOW DO I BUY TICKETS?

For all ticketing information, including hours of operation, rules and regulations, pricing and package specifics, go to the Ticket Information page. We offer two types of tickets, with a limited number of VIP tickets for sale for $175 each, and General Admission tickets for $60 each.

WHAT ARE THE FILMS RATED?

Many of our films have not yet been reviewed so therefore do not have a rating (G, PG, M, MA, R), and some scenes in the chosen films may offend some viewers. The Stellar Short Film Festival advises parental discretion, with viewers recommended to be aged 15 and over.

WHAT WILL BE GOING ON BESIDES MOVIES?

Stellar Short Film Festival is much more than just movies. Stellar is a boutique event, with a limited number of General Admission tickets, and just 100 VIP tickets available to the public.

General Admission guests will receive entry to the Sculpture Park where they can wander through the bushland and enjoy an afternoon of outdoor art sculptures, live tunes from the DJ Blind Benny and the chance to relax on the lawns, before settling in for the film festival. Food, alcohol, coffee and other sweet delights will be available to purchase from local stallholders and food trucks on the night.

Or, if you’re fast, you can purchase a VIP ticket and indulge in a cocktail-style dinner party complete with drinks before the film screenings, to be held in the private indoor gallery, with exclusive access to facilities and a VIP bar. You will also receive a gourmet show bag containing samples of fine local produce, enjoy dedicated entertainment, reserved seating, and an invitation to the Stellar after party.

CAN I BRING MY OWN FOOD AND DRINKS?

General Admission ticket holders can bring in their own food, but strictly no BYO alcohol.

We will have a hydration station to reduce wastage from plastic bottles so please bring an empty water bottle to fill up when you arrive.

We will also have a variety of food trucks and stalls including Johnny Ripe apple pies and savoury options, Greek Masa, Bigger Than Texas, Island Home, Eat Sweet nougat, honeycomb and meringues, and local coffee.

The best of local wines and alcoholic drinks available for sale on the night from That Spirited Lot (gin), Chief’s Son (whisky), Merricks General Wine Store (wine) and Kaiju Beer.

VIP ticket holders will receive a cocktail-style dinner served inside the Pavilion between 5pm and 6:45pm, plus drinks and a ‘swag bag’ containing premium products and samples. At intermission they can head back into the Pavilion for more drinks and a donut. At the conclusion of the awards ceremony (approximately 10:45pm) they can enjoy drinks and a grazing table in the Pavilion until midnight.

CAN I USE A CAMERA?

Cameras and phones can be used for still images with no flash photography allowed but video recording will not be permitted.

CAN I BRING MY DOG?

Unfortunately dogs aren’t permitted at Stellar due to the nature of having food trucks and people sitting down to watch the movies the potential for disruption is too high.

The good news is that McClelland Sculpture Park does welcome dogs on regular days, so you can bring your canine friend back another time to explore the bushland!

WILL IT BE A SEATED EVENT?

VIP ticket holders will have a special seated area set out with comfortable camping-style chairs and a blanket to borrow for the evening, while General Admission ticket holders bring their own picnic blankets, bean bags or low sitting chairs. High-backed chairs are permitted, but must be positioned at the back or sides so as not to block the view of others.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF IT RAINS ON THE NIGHT?

The Stellar Short Film Festival will go ahead in the event of light to moderate rain. Only in the event of severe weather will the event be cancelled and tickets refunded, which is at the event organisers' discretion.

It can get very cold once the sun goes down, so please bring jackets and blankets to stay warm.

Umbrellas will not be permitted for use in front of the screen due to obstructing the view for other attendees.

WHERE IS IT LOCATED?

McClelland Sculpture Park + Gallery is located at 390 McClelland Drive, Langwarrin, Victoria. It is an easy 45-minute drive from Melbourne along Eastlink, where you’ll also see our Stellar flags!
